R.I.P. Keith Elam aka Guru (July 17, 1962 – April 19, 2010)

If anyone doesn't know by now, Guru born Keith Elam from the group Gangstarr with DJ Premier had lost his battle against cancer on April 19,2010 (Monday). I found out Tuesday (4/20) at work when I overheard on the radio that he passed and I was like damn. Guru was one of my favorite rappers to listen to on my ipod. My favortive song from him is Moment of Truth while on gangstarr, his lyrics and his ability to put Jazz into Hip-hop was interesting to me since I'm from a generation where most hip-hop songs is really about death or a silly dance. My prayers goes out to his family and hopes hes in a better place in heaven where like my father and grandmother doesn't have to deal with pain again.

April 4

Hello Hello Happy Easter to all my facebookers, twitter followers and everyone in my heart......Well let me start on the Hip Hop ish. XXL released the annual top 10 freshmen or rookies to take over the game. J Cole, Jay Rock, Nipsey Hussle, Donnis, OJ da Juiceman, Freddie Gibbs, Wiz Khalifia, Pill, Fashawn and Big Sean. Honestly I was mad that none of these rappers arent from New York (Consider J Cole went to St. Johns but gotta be born and raisied in NYC) but NY hasnt been getting alot of new rappers. XXL has put NYC rappers in the top 10 rappers (Joell Ortiz, Charles Hamilton, Cory Gunz, Mickey Factz, Papoose, etc) Anyways.... I didnt seem why Oj da Juiceman was considered a "Good" rapper to be in the group. But XXL is known to give the weak credit (otherwize Benzino wouldnt have a job) J Cole is a good MC. I got to heard his stuff and his rhymes from that Jay-Z song. He sounds like a poor man Lupe Fiasco. Jay Rock reminds me of the Game meets Ice Cube cause not only hes a gangster rapper, he can talk some real stuff that makes gangster life the worst life to live. Nipsey Hussle out of the 10 i see is the most determined to do something. He reminds me on Snoop Dogg (His looks and rapping style) and Prodigy from Mobb Deep. He still needs to fix his deliever cause theres times he sounds like hes doing poetry and not rapping. Freddie Gibbs from Gary Indiana is a best kept secret. People said he sounds like 2pac and I see that too. Fashawn is my favorite cause he reminds me of Nas and he can actually rap. He actually done or doing an Ode to illmatic which I give respect to him. Wiz Khalifa is a ok rapper. I respect his style of rap. He reminds me of Currency (Last year freshman) and Erick Semon cause of his lyrics about smoking weed. He and Currency would make a good Method Man and Redman. Big Sean is a average rapper to me. Reminds me of a Kanye. I respect his fashion but he just too average.I didnt hear alot from Donnis nor Pill but Pill is doing noise by dissing Harlem rapper Jae Millz. So out of the 10 this is my top 3

3. J Cole- J Cole will give Jay alot of money for Roc Nation
2. Nipsey Hussle-If the Game decides to retired anytime soon, The west coast will be Hussle Reige
1- Fashawn- This is a future hip hop legend in the making. in 10 years I hope to see this man on the best rapper alive ish.

Back to another Note, Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz and Crooked I from Slaughterhouse is dissing their label E1 music (Koch Records) about the Shady Records thing. Its going out of control that Budden nor Ortiz's albums are having pushback dates. Honestly as a fan of Hip Hop E1 needs to release the great escape and free agent for people who likes to listen to real hip hop. Until then I'll be bumping to old school songs. Budden released a song named hello expections for his Mood Muzik 4 mixtape. The Mood Muzik Series has been considered one of the best mixtapes in the decade. Ortiz on the other hand had released another mixtape and couple of freestyles and a song for a falling friend. I like that song cause it came out around the time my father passed and I honestly to god believe that both my parents was gonna live forever.

Well its April, The worst time of the year for me is coming in about next week. On April 11, 2009 God brought Johnny Lee Peterson up with him and I know the Lord is keeping him safe. But in retrospect from then to now I will tell you this......My whole life has changed for the worst!!!!!! I didnt expect all this to happen. I felt completed when my daughter Aniyah was born then a month later my father passed. Months after that became the hardest thing for me cause I was having issues with Aniyah's mother, her family, my family and dealing with my emotions. So much that I was gonna end my life for good but God didnt want me to end it. Now Im only a couple of days away from the day my life changed forever.
